Habitat Media is a 501(c)(3) non-profit production group specializing in media for a mass audience that inspire their involvement in making positive change. Our landmark documentaries examine seemingly overwhelming problems, social and environmental, that are solved when "ordinary people" do their part.
Steve Cowan - Director, Producer
Since founding the production group in 1992 Steve has overseen the production of several award-winning films including two prime-time PBS Specials, Empty Oceans Empty Nets and Farming the Seas. As the Executive Director of Habitat Media he is actively involved in all of our organizational operations.
Barry Schienberg - Director of Photography, Co-Producer
Awarded as both cameraman and editor, Barry Schienberg has produced corporate, educational and broadcast television programs for over 25 years. His broadcast work has been viewed on The Discovery Channel, PBS, A&E, CNN, Fox, and MTV. In addition to co-producing, directing cinematography and overseeing on-line edits for Habitat Media, Barry has worked as Director of Photography and Producer on Harvest of Sorrow, Ancient Sea Turtles: Stranded in a Modern World, and Pity the Pilot Whale. Barry directs photography, is our principal camera and on-line editor and helps with script development.
Cameron Harrison - Co-Producer/Editor
Cameron is the latest addition to the Habitat Media team. After spending years balancing his time being a freelance videographer and his day job waiting tables, he's very happy to have steady work that he loves to do. Between the filmmaking and the political/environmental activism, he can't think of a more fulfilling way to spend his days.
Carol Teltschick-Fall - Associate Producer
Carol is a writer and editor who has worked with communities, corporations, artists, nerds, Mexican free-tail bats, Northern fur seals and California sea lions.
Byron Palmer - Associate Producer
Byron began his career with Habitat Media in 2006 after working in all aspects of production. His main area of focus is with production. His passions lie in telling complete balanced stories, that are not entirely too boring to watch on a Friday night. He also enjoys bingo.
